Site Improvements..Finally!

Posted on: July 24th, 2010 by wmapother 7 Comments

I’m happy to report that unless something really, really, really horrific befalls me in the next few weeks (boy, I’m just begging for it with that, aren’t I?), I hope to have a new site up at WilliamMapother.com and this blog will move to become a page of that site.

It should be cleaner, easier, and have information newer than, say, 2002.

Stay tuned.

Women Get Even More Complex

Posted on: July 24th, 2010 by wmapother 2 Comments

So you knew that the hormone oxytocin makes women more trusting.  Turns out that testosterone makes some of them less trusting.  The NYT writes up the study results here.

And just when, you know, we had the females thiiiiiiisssss close to figured out.

Fly wha?

Posted on: July 20th, 2010 by wmapother 6 Comments

A few years ago in Scotland I snapped this pic because I’d never heard of fly-tipping.

I been schooled since then and now know it’s illegal dumping, which apparently is a big problem in Britain, as demonstrated by the second photo.

Le Onion, parte uno

Posted on: July 18th, 2010 by wmapother 2 Comments

This is my first on a favorite piece from The Onion.  I will try — but cannot and will not promise — to avoid letting this blog becoming nothing but posts linking to Onion goodness.

This one’s a short video.  Headline:  “Girl Raised from Birth by Wolf Blitzer Taken into Protective Custody.”  And the child’s performance is fantastic.

Fallout: New Vegas

Posted on: July 15th, 2010 by wmapother 3 Comments

Well, I’m here to report that I’ve seen the future of the past and I’m overjoyed to announce that I’m a part of it (so all of you can rest your pretty little heads at night).

What the hell is Mapother going on about now?  I recently completed some voice work for the much-anticipated (Oct. 19) videogame “Fallout: New Vegas.”  The game is set in a post-apocalyptic 1950’s Las Vegas, with all the wonders and wonderfulness that conjures for you.  The troupes and tribes are all they’re cracked up to be, and the script and team were a blast to work with.  It was the first vidgame v.o. I’d done since working on “The Secret World,” and I’d forgotten how much I’d missed it.

Even if videogames aren’t your thing, how can you not like a dang videogame trailer (here) whose soundtrack is Kay Kyser’s “(I Got Spurs That) Jingle, Jangle, Jingle”?
