The Kentucky Film Commission, which I was appointed to in 2009, has just sent out their first newsletter. Congratulations! There’s a brief Q&A with me here.

Back in the Stone Age of 2002, before Facebook, before Obama, before recorded history, nearly, I shot a short film called Self Storage that was written and directed by my friend Peter O’Brien.
One of the most fun parts of this business is never knowing whom you’ll work with, or who you’re working with will become.
In this case, my co-stars were the lovely and talented Catherine Kellner and…Rainn Wilson, long before he became known to everyone as beet farmer extraordinaire Dwight Schrute of The Office. He’s definitely no beet farmer in this film..
Peter has posted the short film online, and you can watch it here: http://vimeo.com/19624198
Some may remember that two years ago I played a lacrosse coach in an indie film called ‘Warrior,’ starring Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene, two rising stars from the fertile Twilight series..
I’ve reported nuthin’ cause there’s been nuthin’ to report. However, I’m now happy to report more than nuthin’: The film is in late post-production (the usual tweaking of color, sound, music, etc.) and has been retitled ‘A Warrior’s Heart.’
There’s no release date or schedule yet, but as soon as I hear, you’ll hear. Meantime, over to the right is a poster someone directed me to. I don’t know if it’s the official one, but as grandfather used to say, it’s better than a kick in the pants.
Yesterday the Screen Actors announced the candidates for its upcoming 2010 Board election. The listing is here.
Although I know you’re just dying to spend 10 minutes reading all the names, I’ll cut to the chase: Yours truly is running yet again. (Must be something in the water..)
The candidates’ names are drawn at random for listing on the ballot. I got #43, a number first identified by the ancient Egyptians as the single luckiest number under the sun.
Significances of the number forty-three: It’s the 14th smallest prime number; I-43 runs through Wisconsin; and 43A.D. began on a Tuesday. I mean, seriously, how can I lose?
Ballots are mailed out to members on August 23. Don’t forget
In response to literally thousands, perhaps millions, of letters and emails that have nearly shut down southern California servers and post offices, I’m here to save the day with updates on a couple projects.
‘A Warrior’s Heart‘ when last I checked was nearing the final stages of post-production. How and when you’ll be able to see it is still uncertain. It may receive theatrical distribution, or it may go right to video/cable. As soon as I hear something, I’ll send word immediately.
‘Another Earth‘ is definitely still in post-production. (These things take time, people!) It will almost surely first go to film festivals, in order to attain the momentum necessary to fill theatres both near you and across the globe, thereby vaunting it into a box office bonanza far, far beyond anything that weakling ‘Avatar’ ever dreamed of. Or something like that.
