FDR: American Badass attacks soon

Posted on: June 2nd, 2012 by wmapother No Comments

This just in from the front: FDR:American Badass will defend America at Comic-Con this summer
and be out on VOD in September, just in time for our pre-election Presidential candidates to size themselves up against a true, werewolf-fightin’, wheelchair-shootin’ American hero.

Barry Bostwick does a hilarious FDR, and I (me, William Mapother) play Dr. Ellington.  Here’s a trailer to treat yourself to.  Werewolves, beware yourselves.

Louisville Goes Green

Posted on: May 13th, 2012 by wmapother No Comments
Given our planet’s limited resources, how can anyone be against sustainable building practices?
Because they’re not yet mainstream and perfected, however, the challenge is finding individuals and businesses willing to take a chance on them.
Kudos, therefore, to Michael Jones in my hometown of Louisville, for employing all sorts of green practices in the planning and construction of the new Highland Green (the name comes from its location, in the Highlands neighborhood).
I proudly host an online video about the site and the many ways that it not only minimizes its footprint but helps support Louisville’s own sustainability.  Check it out.  And don’t miss the very cool 1-minute time lapse video of the site’s construction.

Slated Knocks a Double

Posted on: May 12th, 2012 by wmapother No Comments

Slated, the first online film finance marketplace, announced this week
that the first two films have completed their financing through Slated.  The first is an adaptation of Chekhov’s ‘The Seagull’ and stars William Hurt, Allison Janney, Katie Holmes, and Cherry Jones.  The second is a documentary, Roman Polanski: Odd Man Out, by director Marina Zenovich.

Congratulations and thanks to our fantastic team at Slated for all their hard work and success.

Have some Q’s about Slated?  The A’s are right here.

Burn This

Posted on: May 3rd, 2012 by wmapother 1 Comment

Palm tree shirts and thong swimsuits, here I come.  I’m Miami-bound
to do an episode of the perenially popular and sunny Burn Notice.  The Hollywood Reporter has the details.

Accessory facts #1: I was last in the Gateway to the Americas for CSI: Miami, which, as fans of it and me might recall, didn’t turn out so well.  #2: Several years ago Burn Notice‘s lovely co-lead, Gabrielle Anwar, played my ex in the indie film A Warrior’s Heart. #3: Margaritas are a weakness of mine.

Draw your own conclusions, please.

So It Can, In Fact, Be Done

Posted on: April 6th, 2012 by wmapother No Comments

Against all odds, our Washington D.C. politicians earned their salaries and our respect the past few weeks.  In a rare show of bipartisanship, both parties got behind the JOBS Act, which scooted through Congress and was signed into law by President Obama today. It’s a collection of six bills intended to make it easier for small, private businesses to raise capital.  Among the big supporters is Steve Case, co-founder of AOL, who wrote a great piece on it.

One of the measures specifically legalizes crowdfunding.  This benefits sites like Slated, which benefits small companies, which benefit all of us.  The JOBS act isn’t perfect, and it will likely see improvements in the coming years.  But what a start.
