WIGS AGAIN

Posted on: March 27th, 2012 by wmapother No Comments

During breaks in shooting a short film last night, I tried to catch up on
my New Yorkers. Damn efficient crew moved too fast for me to get through more than two, grrr..  The upside:  one issue had a great piece by John Seabrook about YouTube commissioning original content for the site, and the future of television in general.  Wigs, the webisode I just wrapped, and rapped about, is part of this initiave.

William in Wigs

Google is very good at making offers we can’t refuse (e.g., Gmail, Google Maps,
searches for “all-night pizza delivery,” etc.).  I received mine via the prolific director-producers Rodrigo Garcia and Jon Avnet.  They’ve been commissioned—along with a number of Hollywood heavyweights—to create scripted content for YouTube (which is owned, of course, by Google).  They’ll be added to the site’s current channels of original content, most of which are unscripted.

The series is called Wigs, and they feature, predominantly, stories about women.  Rodrigo (the director of last year’s Oscar nominee Albert Nobbs) has spoken about the series to the LA Times and the magazine for the Directors Guild.

Actors in the series include Alfred Molina, Alison Janney, America Ferrara, Jennifer Garner.  Real slouches.  Mine was about speed dating.  Surprisingly, it’s not a horror flick. Melonie Diaz plays a women who suffers through a series of five-minute dates, poor thing.  I’m one of the guys, poor thing x 2.  The release, er, upload date is not yet known.  Stay tuned.

Vamps, Vamps and More of ‘Em

Posted on: June 18th, 2010 by wmapother 7 Comments

Two more of my episodes on ‘I <3 Vampires’ are now online.  For the less devout among you, I play William, the leader of the vampire clan.  (I know, I know.)

The show was a blast to work on, and for my involvement I owe thanks to the lovely and talented Julie Restivo.  Merci, Julie.

The ep’s (‘William’s Lair’ and ‘Together Forever’) are here.

Vampin’ it up

Posted on: May 28th, 2010 by wmapother 5 Comments

My first episode on the web series “I <3 Vampires” has been posted (a little bit ago, actually, but I was distracted with ‘Lost,’ so go ahead and shoot me in a downpour in the jungle while I’m unarmed, why don’t you).  Note:  Episodes of web series are usually only about 3-5 minutes.

The series is about a couple teenage girls who go vamp-crazy after reading a series of vampire novels.  (hmm.)  Turns out the novels are based are on a real guy, whom they meet and find vamp-dreamy.  I play the leader of a vampire clan named William (all of you snickering there in the back row:  at least please cover your mouths. dang!).  This ep is part of a back story explaining how the lead character was tempted into becoming a vampire.

The show put up a quick bit about my guest appearance here, and the episode is here.  I shot two more eps — the final two of the season — that should be posted soon.

The Vamping Vamp

Even a bloodsucker needs a little love.  Here’s a pic from the ep I shot last week of the web series “I heart vampires.”  My right fang is just half-visible behind the mirror.  The make-up artist slathered the fang glue, then asked me to hold it in place for about five minutes (While I slurringly asked her about eight times if she was sure it would come off.  It did, thank god.)
It’s called “Nick: Into the Darkness,” ep 4, and I’ve been told it should be up in the couple weeks.
